Horse Tricks Academy is Open!

Bella trick standThe Horse Tricks Academy is an online place where you and your horse can work through all the steps to learn lots of different tricks.

Level One covers all the important basics of trick training. It has several modules that cover the information in the Horse Trick Training ebook, in more detail. These include Trick Training Basics, Equipment, The Marker & a yummy trick training treat eBook.

NOTE: The Trick Training ebook and Trick Treat ebook are available for FREE to Horse Tricks Academy Members (or you can purchase them from our PRODUCTS  page)

Level Two shows you how to teach your horse ‘Trick Foundations’. These simple but important exercises form the basics of loads of tricks. Once you and your horse understand how to do this you can use the same principles to teach your horse just about anything!

These Trick Foundations also help your horse to focus and get your horse’s attention. If your horse has some problem areas, you can use the same principles to improve these eg touchy ears or standing still.

You will also learn how to do an Assessment of you and your horse and work out the best tricks to start teaching your particular horse.

I’ll be working with Bella, our new trick horse. Bella hasn’t had much handling before but she has a nice, willing nature and we think she will make a really good trick horse. You will be able to watch Bella learning tricks from the very beginning.

Level Three then uses many of the trick foundations that you and your horse have learnt to perform lots of simple tricks. There will be tricks that you can teach all levels of horses and some for horses that may be injured or can’t be ridden.

Level Three has a series of videos and step-by-step instructions that you can print out. There will be Trick Planners showing every tiny little step.

We also have a special Facebook group where everyone can share ideas & suggestions and upload videos & photos.

It’s going to be fun!

See you in the Horse Tricks Academy.

      Hi Meredith,

You should receive Part 2 automatically about a week after you received Part 1. Then about 2 weeks after that you will receive an email with a link to the Horse Tricks Academy.

Please let me know if you don’t receive the emails.

      Happy tricks!

I signed up and received the first email, but have not received the second one. Aren’t I supposed to receive one each week?

      Hi Emma,

To teach a horse to let it have its legs wrapped just use the same steps as teaching tricks. It’s easy! :)

      * Teach them in small steps. * Let them know when they do the right thing (give them a Marker). * Reward them.

      More details in the ebook.

      Happy tricks,

      Jain, Trigger & Bella.

Thanks I read the first book and have been teaching in small portions every time i go out there and i lead her to the round pen like you said so she will feel comfortable, and she has been letting me touch her legs and i have been working with that step for a while. I rescued her she was being starved and beaten and i’m trying to make her not afraid. She loves apples her name is Flicka. With your help i think i can work with her

That’s great news Emma! :-) It sounds like you have the patience to really make a difference in Flicka’s life.

Thanks Jain, i have a lot of Patience, Horses are my passion. And i’ll see about buying the second book. She is a very willing learner. She is so sweet im teacging her how to hug and in the little time periods she is really catching on.
            Thanks Emma

          • Horse Tricks 101 says

Patience is the key Emma :) Especially if she has had a hard life. If you can gain Flicka’s full trust (with patience and time) she will do anything for you. It sounds like she already wants to work with you. I would love to hear how you progress with her.
