Promise To My Horse

I promise that…

1. I will try to be patient and calm around you at all times.
2. I will give you daily exercise and space to run, because I know you need to move.
3. I will provide you with fresh, clean water every day.
4. I will only place comfortable, well fitting gear on you.
5. I will scratch you in all your favorite places.
6. I will make sure that your feet are cleaned and trimmed regularly.
7. I will always treat you with kindness and respect.
8. I will provide you good quality feed that is appropriate for your age, workload and weight.
9. I will spend time grooming you with brushes that you like.
10. I will do interesting, fun and playful activities with you.
11. I will provide shelter for you from hot, cold and wet weather.
12. I will make sure that all your vaccinations and de-worming treatments are kept up to date.
13. I will reward you with treats and scratches.
14. I will make sure that if you are sick or injured you receive prompt veterinary care.
15. I will help you to learn by breaking each new task into easy to understand steps.
16. I will provide you with at least one horse friend (and if possible, several horse friends).
17. I will leave your blanket off as much as possible so you can feel the air and sun on your body.
18. I will listen to you. If you show me you are unhappy through your behavior, I will try to understand why.
19. I will be forever grateful for what you teach me.
20. I will slow myself down when I am with you and remember to sometimes just sit with you   and breathe.
21. I will take steps every day to improve our relationship.
